Infection Control

When you arrive for your appointment at Hancock and Johnston Dentistry, you likely have a million questions or concerns about your procedure and comfort level. The last thing we want you to worry about is infection control. We partner with MediClean & Shield to ensure a safe dental environment for our staff, our patients and everyone else who walks through our doors.

We follow guidelines recommended by several federal agencies, including the American Dental Association and the Centers for Disease Control.

These measures include:

  • Proper use of personal protective equipment, including gloves, goggles and face masks
  • Frequent use of disinfectant hand soap
  • Chemical disinfection of all exam surfaces
  • Sterilization of all equipment prior to use
  • Single use protective covers and disposable tools
  • Nightly cleaning and sanitizing of our entire facility
  • Waterline testing every 90 days for cleanliness and safety as required by the CDC

We also go the extra mile with state-of-the-art methods to keep infectious disease at bay.

Rapid Testing: We utilize the latest technology to swab and test for harmful microorganisms. No waiting weeks to send samples to a lab — we are able to get real-time results on the state of our facilities so we can act quickly if needed.

Electrostatic Spraying: This Environmental Protection Agency-approved process quickly covers surfaces with a nontoxic disinfecting solution, protecting our office from microbial activity for up to 90 days at a time by eliminating viruses, bacteria and fungi.

Feel free to ask our staff and dentists for more information about our safety procedures. We use the same infection control and precautions for you that we would for our own families — your oral and physical health are both priorities at Hancock and Johnston Dentistry.
